Carnival’s recently launched ‘social impact’ brand Fathom is to operate to Cuba from next May.
“We know there is strong demand from travellers who want to immerse themselves in Cuban culture, so this is a historic opportunity for us to enable more people to experience Cuban society,” said Carnival Corporation president and chief executive, Arnold Donald.
The news follows the announcement last month that Fathom will charter voyages from Miami to the Dominican Republic.
Operating on P&O’s 710-passenger vessel Adonia, Fathom will give passengers the chance to work on activities that will benefit the local communities within its ‘impact destinations’, such as providing clean water and planting crops.
Following the renewal of diplomatic relations between the US and Cuba it’s anticipated that more cruise lines will start offering cruise holidays to the Caribbean country.
