Q. We love the idea of a luxury cruise, but we are worried it will be stuffy. Can you recommend any cruise lines that take a more relaxed approach?
A. Uncomfortable is one thing you’re never going to feel on a luxury cruise – the whole idea is for you to feel pampered, indulged and relaxed as all your needs are catered for. Luxury lines aim to anticipate your every whim before you are even aware that you’d would like another superbly mixed Martini, or a fresh towel by the pool, or more lobster canapés in your room, but they’re never stuffy or intimidating. The cruise lines I think may suit you best include Regent Seven Seas, which offers all-inclusive luxury cruises covering food and drinks, as well as all excursions and tips (it’s actually quite difficult to spend any money) Uniworld offers the same excellent deal but as a river option. Viking Ocean offers destination-driven cruises with inclusive daily excursions and top-quality wines and soft drinks at mealtimes, and Oceania is another high-end line, with its award-winning Canyon Ranch SpaClubs. Whichever line you choose, you will experience service that’s second to none and you can expect to be soothed every wave of the way.
