The American author James A. Michener famously described Marigot Bay, with its translucent turquoise waters, as “the most beautiful bay in the Caribbean.” Located on the western coast of St Lucia, close to the National Marine Reserve, it’s surrounded by steep, forested hills, and was the site of a number of battles between the French and British navies. The inland section is used to shelter boats from hurricanes, and the bay is popular with millionaire yacht owners.
