Radio DJs and TV presenters Lauren Laverne and Stuart Maconie recently hosted a celebration of music to launch Royal Caribbean’s new ship Anthem of the Seas, sailing from Southampton in spring 2015.
Speaking at the launch of the ship, Lauren Laverne said:
“Bob Geldof once said that everybody talks about the power of art, but you don’t often stand in front of a painting and cry, but music has that power over us. It’s the closest thing we’ve got to magic.”
New ship Anthem of the Seas will provide cruise holidays dedicated to entertainment – as the name suggests – there will be a Music Hall designed to showcase live music and venue Two70° with panoramic views of the sea and floor-to-ceiling glass walls.
Two70° will offer advanced entertainment technology only found in two other destinations around the world.
In preparation for the launch event, DJ Stuart Maconie asked the nation to choose the song that makes them feel their happiest.
The top five anthems, performed on the night by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, were: It’s a Beautiful Day by U2, Hey Jude by The Beatles, Jerusalem by Parry, Angels by Robbie Williams and Nimrod by Elgar.
Here’s a video of Lauren Laverne and Stuart Maconie speaking about their favourite holiday songs, the power of music and its connection with cruise holidays and travel at the launch of Anthem of the Seas.
