MSC have christened their latest ship, Divina, in a shower of champagne and confetti during a glorious ceremony in Marseille, France
The exclusive event, which took place on 27 May, was held in the company of international celebrities, including Divina‘s godmother, Sophia Loren, as well as VIP guests from the worldwide travel industry and the media.
The theme of the evening was ‘Med with Passion’ in celebration of MSC’s Mediterranean heritage, of which the line is extremely proud.
“Since 2003 we have built our ships on French soil, partnering with the French shipyard and heavily contributing to employment and the economy,” said MSC’s CEO Pierfrancesco Vago.
“Tonight in Marseille we will celebrate this long-established relationship, paying homage to the country’s oldest and biggest port at the christening ceremony of our latest flagship, MSC Divina.”
Highlights of the christening included an astonishing 14-man pyramid from one of Divina’s theatre productions, a performance by the critically acclaimed Italian singer Paulo Conte, and of course, a parade of the ship’s officers.
MSC Divina is now the 12th vessel to join the prestigious MSC fleet and is modeled on her sister ships, MSC Splendida and MSC Fantasia, measuring 1,093ft in length and sailing through various routes in the Mediterranean.
