Q. I’ve booked my first cruise but I’m not very good at packing light. Are there any limits I need to be aware of regarding luggage?

A. It depends on where you’re cruising from and to. On a round-trip from the UK you can pack as many clothes as you think you’ll need (bearing in mind there’s sometimes limited storage space in staterooms). If you’re going on a fly-cruise, be aware of airline luggage restrictions. Your suitcase may be taken off you on arrival by porters and you might have to wait a few hours for it to arrive, so pack a small carry-on for your essentials, e.g swimsuit, sun lotion etc. There’s a definite art to packing light – plan your outfits ahead of your cruise, and try to take as many ‘multi-function’ items as possible.
