Is Hawaii on your cruise wish list? Check out this Norwegian Cruise Line Hawaiian Islands voyage on board Pride of America from £1,649pp*, cruise only. Departing 28 April 2018 from Honolulu round trip, calls include Kahului, Kahului, Hilo, Kona and Nawiliwili.
From the moment you step into the Capitol Atrium, with its soaring Tiffany-style glass dome and grand staircase, you’ll know this is a spectacular cruise ship. Cruise paradise in style, with 19 dining choices and 10 bars and lounges, excellent family accommodation, spacious suites and lots of private balconies – perfect for whale watching, witnessing Kīlauea volcano or taking in the dramatic views of the Nā Pali Coast.
Your embarkation point Honolulu, which is Hawaii’s capital, hugs the southern coast of the island of Oahu. The name Honolulu is derived from a Hawaiian term for “sheltered harbour”. To the west of downtown are Pearl Harbour, where you can visit the Arizona Memoroal Museum, and the airport; to the east are Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head and the Punchbowl two extinct volcanoes that tend to show up in picture postcards.
The most populated island, Oahu is fairly mountainous; two high ranges stretch the width of the island on the east and west sides. Between them is a farmland valley where pineapples are grown (for fresh-fruit markets only).
Hilo, also known as “The City of Rainbows” is the largest city on the island of Hawaii, situated on the east coast. The town, founded by missionaries in the early 1820s, has been under restoration in an effort to preserve its 19th century downtown buildings.
Hawaii’s Big Island offers the most diverse terrain of any of this state’s islands. Kilauea, the most active volcano on earth, has erupted so many times in the past 20 years, that it has added an additional 70 acres of land. Nearby Hilo are the two scenic waterfalls of Akaka Falls State Park.
