The Ultimate Abyss on board Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas
Royal Caribbean International today revealed the tallest slide at sea, The Ultimate Abyss, part of the world’ largest cruise ship, Harmony of the Seas, which will debut in Southampton in May 2016.

Towering more than 150ft above sea level and overlooking the AquaTheater, the pair of side-by-side slides will release guests into a 100ft drop as they travel at approximately nine miles per hour from the Pool and Sports Zone on Deck 16 to the Boardwalk on Deck 6 below.

The Ultimate Abyss is made up of two separate cylinders, a reflection of one-another, each with a diameter of approximately 2.6 feet and constructed of stainless steel.

Launching onto the ride from a glass platform, guests can take one last look at the Boardwalk 10 decks below before climbing onto a customised mat and taking the plunge. Spontaneous audio effects within each tunnel add to the multi-sensory experience.

The Oasis class Harmony of the Seas will span 16 guest decks and carry 5,497 guests at double occupancy across 2,747 staterooms.
