ITV have confirmed that the sixth series of ‘The Cruise’, starring Princess Cruises’ ship Majestic Princess, will air on a weekly basis from Thursday 3 January at 8:30pm.

Tony Roberts, Princess Cruises’ vice president UK and Europe, said: “We’re delighted that Princess Cruises will once again feature in The Cruise series on ITV, which offers viewers a wonderful glimpse into the wealth of experiences for our guests both onboard and ashore, and the daily lives of our dedicated crew.

“We can’t wait for the series to transport viewers to exotic Asia and the stunning landmark locations of Australia and New Zealand on Majestic Princess.”

Throughout this latest series, according to ITV, viewers will be introduced to a number of new faces, including Captain Dino Sagani, a fourth-generation captain who has worked for Princess Cruises for 25 years and has served as captain on several Princess ships since first being appointed in 2007.

Majestic Princess holds great personal importance to him as it was built in Monfalcone, Italy just a few miles north from his hometown of Trieste.

ITV say some familiar faces will also take centre stage including Newcastle-born Hotel Services Engineer, Scott Grayson, and as well as being filmed helping maintain the 143,000-tonne ship, Scott is seen offering a glimpse into his preparations for heading home to begin a whole new adventure of his own – as a father to a new born baby girl.

Providing the voiceover for the series is actor Anthony Head, who is internationally known for playing Rupert Giles in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and for his role as Geoffrey Howe in Oscar winning film, The Iron Lady.

The Cruise is made by Wild Pictures, one of the UK’s leading factual documentary makers, who also produced the previous five series.

Cruising with Jane McDonald is back – featuring Princess Cruises ‘Down Under’

Princess Cruises has also announced that it will exclusively feature in all three episodes of the next series of Channel 5’s BAFTA-winning show Cruising With Jane McDonald, which airs from 9pm on Friday 4 January.

In the latest series, the fifth to date, Jane McDonald travels around Australia combining a 12-night cruise onboard the 2,000-guest Sun Princess – as the ship sails the West Coast of Australia – with several land tours.

During her time on Sun Princess the former cruise ship singer explores the variety of entertainment onboard, dines at the Chef’s Table and even attends a wedding between two guests on the line’s original Love Boat.

Some of the far-flung destinations visited included Albany, Freemantle, Geraldton and Broome.

Tony Roberts, Princess Cruises’ vice-president UK and Europe, said: “We’re delighted to host Jane McDonald onboard Sun Princess as she experiences Australia.”

“We’re looking forward to viewers joining Jane on the other side of the world as she enjoys a relaxing cruise on the beautiful Sun Princess, while visiting some of Australia’s hidden gems including the Pink Lakes of Geraldton and Broome’s dramatic shoreline.”

Princess Cruises won Best Cruise Line for the fifth year running at this year’s British Cruise Awards.
