British stage, film and TV actor Alan Cumming, OBE, is the latest addition to Cunard’s popular ‘Insights’ programme.

Alan Cumming on Queen Mary 2, Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, in Brooklyn, New York.

The Olivier and Tony award-winning actor was on board Cunard‘s flagship ocean liner Queen Mary 2 for the 3 January 2019 transatlantic crossing.

While on the seven-night voyage from New York to Southampton, Cumming offered a Q&A session with guests where he talked about his past career which has included X-Men 2 and James Bond’s GoldenEye and then introduced an exclusive screening from Instinct, the hit Sky TV series in which he plays Dr Dylan Reinhart.

“Nowadays we don’t understand the idea of experiencing travel,” said Cumming. “[The crossing] takes seven days because that’s how long it takes to get across the Atlantic. There’s a line from Shakespeare in As you Like It where Rosalind says of Jacques, ‘You have gained your experience,’ and I really think that about this journey—you gain your experience. You gain your experience, and you understand what it means to travel this journey across the world.”
