Carnival Magic is the 23rd ship in Carnival’s fleet, and the second in its Dream class of ships. It carries 3,646 passengers and weigh 130,000 tons.
Carnival Magic has the same features as her sister ship, Carnival Dream, including extensive facilities for children and teens, a 23,750 sq ft Cloud 9 Spa, plus The Lanai, an outdoor promenade featuring cantilevered whirlpools that extend over the ship’s sides.
Launched 1st May 2011, the 130,000t ship includes features such as the WaterWorks aqua park with a 300-foot-long corkscrew water slide, the Drainpipe and dual racing slides.
A new feature for Carnival Magic is a large outdoor sports complex which will offer cruising’s first-ever ropes course, outdoor weight-lifting area and a 500-gallon water dump bucket.
There is also a live entertainment venue, Ocean Plaza. Another feature is the indoor/outdoor ‘gathering’ area with dance floor, cocktail bars, speciality coffee bars and access on both sides to deck areas and Jacuzzis. As on Dream, there will be a wide range of staterooms, including some with deluxe ocean views and two bathrooms, and some of which feature five berths and are aimed specifically at families.
The ship will have one of the biggest kids’ clubs afloat in Camp Carnival, which is divided by age group.
This is in its own area of the ship, and includes a spacious playroom divided into different activity areas, and an enclosed deck area that has a splash pool and a water spray park.
The ship has two new venues: the RedFrog Pub, an island inspired watering hole featuring its own private-label draught beer; and Cucina del Capitano, an authentic trattoria that brings the heritage of Carnival’s Italian captains to the table.
