Former royal correspondent and cruise-lover Jennie Bond shares her favourite places in the world

My holidays as a child were very unexotic. We would go to Norfolk quite a lot and to Devon and Cornwall. I only went abroad twice as a teenager, to Austria and Switzerland.

I love to get away in the winter and so the Caribbean is probably my favourite destination – it’s just so full of joy, fun and variety. The Caribbean does it for me, but I am also very fond of South East Asia.

Nassau Beach in the Bahamas.

I am a sea fanatic. I live by the sea in the UK and get to see it every day. I absolutely love it. If you had to plant me in a city though, I think it would have to be Sydney – because you can get to a beach within 20 minutes.

My husband Jim and I have just been on a cruise with Azamara around the Greek Islands – Santorini was our favourite. We went to the top of the island on a donkey, hired a quad bike and found a fantastic fresh fish restaurant – we were almost sitting in the water.

Yunnan Province, China

I am very keen to visit the Yangtze in China next – a major country I have never been to. I’ve been round the globe many times as royal correspondent travelling with the Royal Family. So I’ve seen an awful lot of the world, but China is one place I’m yet to discover and I think the Yangtze would be a great experience.
