LONDON: The seventh annual Cruise International Awards 2017 took place at The Ritz in London today, with Princess Cruises winning the award for Best Cruise Line for the fourth year running.
Liz Jarvis, Editor of Cruise International, said: “The past year has been fantastic for the cruise industry and thousands and thousands of consumers voted in this year’s Cruise Awards.
“All the finalists have done amazingly well and should feel justifiably proud of their achievements.”
This year’s Cruise Awards featured three new categories – Best UK Port, Best Online Travel Agent and Best Escorted & Specialist Tour Operator – alongside others across the 26 categories, which include Best River Cruise Line, Best New Ship and Best for First-Time Cruisers.
Wine expert and broadcaster Oz Clarke presented the event which was attended by leading figures from the cruise industry.
Viking River Cruises was awarded Best River Cruise Line and Best Luxury River Cruise Line, while Silversea’s Silver Muse won Best New Ship. Disney Cruise Line won Best for Families, while Princess Cruises took home the award for Best for First-Time Cruisers.
Titan won the accolade for Best Escorted & Specialist Tour Operator, while Thomson Cruises won Best Value for Money, Silversea was awarded Best for Adventure and Saga Cruises won Best for Enrichment.
The award for Outstanding Contribution to the Cruise Industry was given to Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, Chairman of Silversea, while CEO of Cosmos Tours & Cruises and Avalon Waterways Giles Hawke was presented with the Cruise Agent Lifetime Achievement award.
Cruise International is officially the UK’s best-selling consumer travel magazine dedicated to cruise and cruise and stay holidays.
This year’s awards were supported by Avalon Waterways, Silversea, Thomson Cruises, Saga Cruises, Voyages to Antiquity, SeaDream Yacht Club, Titan, Bric’s, the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), and the Birmingham Cruise Show.
