Dozens of cruise lines around the world have offered their tributes following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

The much-loved monarch, who held the longest reign in UK history and celebrated her Platinum Jubilee earlier this year, died at the Scottish royal residence of Balmoral on September 8.

Shortly after the news was announced by Buckingham Palace, cruise lines began offering their condolences to the Royal Family and their tributes to the Queen.

The monarch had a close relationship with the British cruise sector, having christened her first ship in 1947 when, then as Princess Elizabeth, she launched Cunard’s ship Caronia on Clydebank.

She went on to become godmother to a further three Cunard ships – Queen Elizabeth 2 in 1967, Queen Mary in 2004 and Queen Elizabeth in 2010 – and to two P&O Cruises ships, Oriana in 1995 and Britannia in 2015.
