Cunard announces new ship

Cunard has announced the launch of new UK coastal cruises due to sail this summer.

As cruise lines continue to adapt and adjust to travel restrictions and changing guidelines, Cunard has announced a further pause in operations across its international sailings. However, with restrictions on domestic travel set to ease in May in the UK, Cunard has launched a new itinerary of staycation cruises.

Cunard will offer a series of domestic voyages on Queen Elizabeth from Southampton, sailing in UK coastal waters, for British passengers. Bookings for Cunard’s UK staycation cruises are set to open later in March.

Speaking about this latest announcement Cunard’s president, Simon Palethorpe says:With the UK Government confirming that domestic travel is close on the horizon, we are introducing a series of exciting, shorter duration holidays for Brits looking for the perfect staycation in Cunard luxury this summer. These will be sailings from Southampton, for UK residents, around the UK and will make the very most of the summer sunshine. We’ll be announcing further details imminently.
“However, with international travel restrictions still in place, we unfortunately need to cancel a number of departures. We know how much everyone is desperately looking forward to longed-for holidays overseas, so to all affected by this news, I am sincerely sorry for the disappointment this will cause.”
This comes as the cruise line cancels its usual summer Mediterranean season on Queen Elizabeth through to 11th October, 2021. Cruises on Queen Victoria and Queen Mary 2’s itineraries have also been cancelled through 27th August and 12th November, 2021 respectively.
