Norwegian Cruise Line‘s largest ship, the 4,268-guest Norwegian Escape, launched at Southampton on Tuesday.
From its eye-catching livery artwork by marine wildlife artist Guy Harvey, to its thrilling watersides and ropes course, Norwegian Escape – the first ship in Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway Plus Class – represents a true evolution for the brand, incorporating guest favourites and providing further freedom and flexibility for guests.
Andy Stuart, Norwegian Cruise Line’s President and Chief Operating Officer, said :“We’ve capitalised on the best of our Breakaway Class ships and taken freedom and flexibility to the next level with this incredible new ship.”
Highlights include the Snow Room at the Mandara Spa – the largest spa in Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet, and the first Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville at Sea on deck 17, with signature items including Cheeseburger in Paradise and a wide choice of cocktails including a James Bond themed margarita.
For both pre- and post-dinner drinks, guests have 21 bars and lounges to choose from: Tobacco Road on deck 8 is kitted out with original features from the 102-year-old defunct Miami bar it shares its name with, and offers cocktails and warming liquors; the District Brew House, also on deck 8, serves dozens of draught and bottled beers. Norwegian Escape is also home to the line’s first wine bar in partnership with the Michael Mondavi Family, The Cellars.
Onboard entertainment includes musicals After Midnight, showcasing the songs of Duke Ellington and a roof-raising onstage jazz band, and Tony Award winning Million Dollar Quartet, along with Norwegian’s acclaimed dinner-and-show For The Record: The Brat Pack at The Supper Club.
Other features on board Norwegian Escape include the Aqua Park – the biggest water park Norwegian Cruise Line has ever built; a three-storey ropes course complete with zip lines and two planks, which allow guests to walk out onto a narrow beam high above the ocean; and The Haven, an ultra-luxurious ship-within-a-ship complex, boasting 95 private suites, a pool, two whirlpools, sun deck and restaurant.
