Silversea has revealed new details of its first-ever destination-specific ship, Silver Origin, which will sail in the Galapagos Islands from summer 2020.
Roberto Martinoli, CEO of Silversea, said: “Silver Origin will elevate our industry-leading offering in the Galapagos Islands, unlocking meaningful experiences for guests as they travel in ultimate luxury.
“Ever since the early planning phases, every decision on Silver Origin has been made to strengthen the connection between our guests and this spectacular, unique destination.”
Silver Origin is one of the most environmentally friendly cruise ships ever designed and has been created with the archipelago specifically in mind.
Accommodating 100 passengers, it will offer guests one-of-a-kind experiences ashore led by Silversea’s Expedition Team, who are certified by the National Park of the Galapagos.
And back on the ship, guests can enjoy Ecuadorian culture through insightful content, including daily briefings, lectures, videos and scientific information.
There will also be authentic local cuisine prepared by expert Ecuadorian chefs. Food will be served in two different dining venues: The Restaurant and The Grill – a sophisticated open-air eatery that can be partially enclosed for comfort.
Silver Origin interior design
Perfectly crafted, the interior on board Silver Origin combines the understated elegance that pervades the entire Silversea fleet with influences from the Galapagos’ natural environment, such as bright, colourful motifs and regional materials.
Among the public spaces is Basecamp, an elegant lounge in which guests can socialise before or after excursions. It connects with the ship’s Zodiac embarkation area and will host educational activities assisted by a large, interactive digital wall.
Daily briefings and lectures from the ship’s Expedition Team will take place in the Explorer Lounge. Boasting floor-to-ceiling windows for sweeping views, the space features a large video wall and wide HD screens as well as a bar and piano for relaxation.
Serving as an elegant hideaway at the front of the ship, the Observation Lounge will feature incredible views alongside a library with a carefully curated collection of destination-focused books.
Suite categories on board Silver Origin
Comfort will also be provided by the eight different suite categories, the largest of which is the Owner’s Suite. All guests, however, will be treated to a private balcony and butler service.
Certain suite categories will enjoy an innovative Horizon Balcony, which converts to enclose the outside area with a floor-to-ceiling window for added space and better shelter from the elements.
“The natural beauty of the Galapagos Islands makes it one of the world’s best cruise destinations. Silver Origin will enhance Silversea’s award-winning cruise experience here, raising it to an even more incredible level for guests’ enjoyment,” said Fernando Delgado, Vice President of Silversea.
