Newly released footage featuring Sir Richard Branson provides a sneak peek inside Virgin Voyages’ new ship Scarlet Lady after it successfully completes sea trials.
Tom McAlpin, CEO of Virgin Voyages, said: “We’re thrilled to have completed such a significant milestone with our sea trials and have our amazing crew to thank for their passion and tenacity in this achievement.
“We’re one step closer to getting our sailors on Scarlet Lady and are grateful for all that have chosen to join us on this adventure.”
The sea trials saw Scarlet Lady embark on a return trip from Genoa to Marseille in November. The ship has been confirmed as smooth, stable and quiet, and is now one step closer to its maiden voyage on 1 April 2020.
Virgin Founder Richard Branson boarded the ship in Genoa for the trials and ceremoniously painted the outline of the Virgin flag on the ship’s hull where the Virgin Voyages logo will appear.
The film clip above reveals what Richard Branson got up to on board as well as how some of the guest areas are taking shape. Once completed, the interior will offer a contemporary, chic aesthetic paired with stunning sea views.
The work is expected to be finished in time for Scarlet Lady’s first sailing in April, which will be packed full of celebrity guest appearances, special events and exclusive surprises.
Two Sneak-a-Peek sailings in late March have also recently been released, providing guests with another chance to be among the first to get on board.
Running from 26 to 29 March 2020 and 29 March to 1 April 2020, these sailings will include the ship’s marquee experiences, including a day at the Beach Club at Bimini, a Scarlet Night Party, access to all restaurants and complete versions of the entertainment offered on board.
Following its debut voyage, Scarlet Lady will sail from Miami to the Caribbean year-round.
Joining Scarlet Lady in the Virgin Voyages fleet in May 2021 will be Valiant Lady. This second addition to the new cruise line will be based in the Mediterranean.
