Vibrant and effortlessly cool, with sugar-sand beaches, great nightlife and wonderful art deco architecture, Miami is one of the most exciting cities in the world.

Things to do

Hang out in South Beach (aka SoBe), the Art Deco era seafront district and do some people-watching; swim in the Atlantic Ocean; visit Coral Gables, with its cool bars, Coconut Grove and Biscayne Bay; go shopping at Bayside Marketplace and Lincoln Road Mall; and if you want to get a taste of Cuban lifestyle (and delicious food), head into Little Havana.

Where to eat

The Forge is an acclaimed steakhouse (said to be haunted by Al Capone); for sandwiches and salads, go to Segafredo; and definitely try the Key Lime Pie (and the crab) at the legendary Joe’s Stone Crab.

Where to stay

Miami Beach Resort (miamibeachresortandspa.com) is in a quiet area overlooking a private stretch of beach.
