The Foreign & Commonwealth Office has changed its travel advice and now advises against all but essential travel to Tunisia following the events that took place near the city of Sousse on 26 June.
Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said, “Since the attack in Sousse the intelligence and threat picture has developed considerably, leading us to the view that a further attack is highly likely.
“While we are working with the Tunisian authorities, we judge it is right and prudent to make this change. Our first priority will always be the safety of our citizens.”
Holidaymakers who have booked a cruise that was scheduled to call in Tunisia are advised to contact their booking agent.
Those with bookings beyond the summer are advised to wait to contact their travel company until nearer their departure date.
