Fred. Olsen has unveiled its new ‘Poison, Murder & Mystery’ cruise which goes on sale tomorrow
Fred. Olsen has launched a 16-night 16-night murder mystery cruise on board its ship Boudicca. The cruise will depart from Edinburgh (Rosyth) on 10 July 2015. The cruise line is aiming to set a world record for the largest participative ‘murder mystery’ event ever held on a cruise ship. It will be witnessed on board officially by the Guinness World Records.
The cruise will visit two iconic ‘poison gardens’: one belonging to Her Grace, the Duchess of Northumberland at Alnwick Castle, and to Fred. Olsen Snr in Guimar, Tenerife Fred. Olsen Snr and the Duchess came up for the idea for the cruise after Mr Olsen visited the gardens at Alnwick.
Her Grace, The Duchess of Northumberland said: “In Fred. Olsen I was delighted to meet someone with a fellow passion for poison plants, and together we have sown a seed that has flourished into this fascinating cruise experience for Fred. Olsen guests next year, linking our two gardens.”
The cruise offers the chance to learn about everyday garden plants which have been used as poisons throughout history for murder and suicide.
Guests are invited to don costumes and choose their characters on board in the immersive experience. Cocktails, dinners and dress codes will be tailored to the theme and the guest that correctly guesses the murder will win a world cruise for two with the cruise line.
The cruise will sail along the famous ‘Agatha Christie’ route which calls at Leixoes (Portugal), Funchal (Madeira), Santa Cruz (Tenerife), Las Palmas (Gran Canaria), Lisbon (Portugal) and Newcastle (UK).
