Take That star Gary Barlow has announced a series of charity performances on P&O Cruises’ latest ship, Iona
The singer will appear in the Headliners Theatre on a Spain and Portugal cruise departing from Southampton on October 29, 2022; and on a Spain, Portugal and Canary Islands cruise departing November 12, 2022.
Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Child Bereavement UK and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Gary Barlow said: “One thing I love is making memories. I think music does that extremely well. I look forward to joining guests on board Iona later this year to create some truly special holiday memories.”
The former boy band star worked on the launch of Iona last summer as music director of The 710 Club, creating performances designed to appeal to a British audience. The late-night club is adult-only and showcases a host of up-and-coming musical talent.
P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: “It is a real delight to welcome Gary back on Iona for what will be extraordinary performances. His love of music, which has taken him on so many journeys and adventures, will provide guests on board with a unique night of world-class entertainment fused with an amazing travel experience.”
Barlow won eight Brit Awards and sold more than 45 million records during his time with Take That. He has also written and produced music for other artists including Sir Elton John and Dame Shirley Bassey.
Raffle tickets to attend the performances will be sold on board for £10 each. Two of the line’s ‘Food Heroes’, José Pizarro and Olly Smith, will also be on the November departure to lead food-focused demonstrations, talks and hosted dinners.
