Star of The West Wing, Glee, Ugly Betty and guest judge on American Idol, Kristin Chenoweth is set to take on a new role and christen new ship Quantum of the Seas, next autumn.
Royal Caribbean International announced the appointment, which is steeped in maritime tradition, in an unconventional manner during a red carpet-inspired advertisement that aired during ABC television network’s broadcast of the Oscars.
It seems natural that the new ship was to take on a Godmother who can seamlessly evolve her roles from stage to screen, television to music – she is an entertainer first and foremost, and putting on a show is an aspect of cruising that the line takes pride in.
Kristin Chenoweth comments, “I think the Royal Caribbean brand is the perfect match for me, especially with their history of providing exceptional entertainment experiences to their guests.”
Royal Caribbean was the first cruise line to introduce fully-licensed Broadway productions on board its ships and currently features Saturday Night Fever, Hairspray and Chicago: The Musical.
“Kristin’s effortless grace and dynamic performances align perfectly with our newest class of ships and we could not be more honoured to have her represent Quantum of the Seas,” said Richard D. Fain, chairman and CEO, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd.
“Working with such a remarkable and versatile woman for one of maritime’s longest standing traditions is an exciting experience.”
As Godmother Kristen Chenoweth will officially name the ship in autumn 2014. The actress was chosen for her outgoing personality and ability to wow audiences and will continue to showcase Quantum of the Seas in the months ahead.
