What is your favourite place in the world?

My favourite place in the world – I think I’d have to say London. I just think it’s the best city on the planet and I’m incredibly lucky to live here.

What is your favourite food when travelling?

I’d say Italian, I love Italian food. I love the whole anti pasti and primo platti – the way they separate their food. I love the olive oil and theres a good reason why the Mediterranean climate and diet seems to be very healthy and heart disease is very low there. But a close second for me would be an Asian diet. I’m very fond of sushi.

Do you enjoy discovering new music when travelling?

Yes, very much. That’s an essential part of my holiday interests. I’m looking forward to finding out about Egyptian music on my next holiday to Assouin and Luxor. It’s interesting to find how music is such an internationally binding medium. It’s sort of an international language really – there are so many ways of communicating through music. For me, even when the actual language of the country is unknown – the language of the music itself is familiar to me or i’ll at least be able to find patterns in it that coincide with the patterns in the music that I’m familiar with.

If you could be anywhere in the world right now where would you be?

Well that would be Sydney as I just want to get out of this climate. I just want to be in the Southern hemisphere – anywhere in the southern hemisphere really.

How do you relax on holiday?

Well it has to be the perfect combination of learning and enjoying. Experiencing a new culture, learning some new facts and being able to crash out with a cocktail at the end of the day. That’s the perfect combination for me.
