Marco Pierre White and Olly Smith to join P&O Cruises’ Food Heroes holidays

P&O Cruises has unveiled its latest range of food and drink-inspired escapes, featuring high-profile chefs, wine experts and restaurateurs

 

Renowned chefs Marco Pierre White and José Pizarro will join wine presenter Olly Smith and MasterChef judge Kjartan Skjelde among the Food Heroes set to be featured on P&O Cruises holidays this year.

Guests can expect cooking demonstrations, expert talks and hosted dinners on selected sailings, plus wine-paired menus and bespoke menus on offer across the fleet.

Marco Pierre White said: “Whether I am designing menus for the Celebration night or doing a cookery demonstration for guests on board in my Cookery Club, I know that it has to make a holiday truly magical and memorable.

“Classic dishes made with seasonal and local ingredients will always create a fantastic dining experience.”

Wine expert and TV presenter Olly Smith has developed wine-tasting experiences for guests and showcases his picks in The Glass House restaurant and bar.

He said: “It’s a joy to help guests choose the perfect drink to enjoy after a day exploring a spectacular destination or to accompany José’s glorious tapas in The Glass House. There is a wine out there for every palate and I love to give guests the opportunity to discover new grape varieties and styles for themselves.”

Wine expert Olly Smith is among P&O Cruises’ Food Heroes

Chef José Pizarro hails from Cáceres in Spain, and has developed a bespoke tapas menu along with street-food dishes for onboard eatery Taste 360. Norwegian restaurateur and cookbook author Kjartan Skjelde has founded two restaurants in Stavanger, appeared as a judge on TV show MasterChef Norway and hosts his own cooking show, and has designed a six-course taster menu exclusively served in Epicurean on Iona.

 

P&O Cruises’ Food Heroes holidays

The Food Heroes itineraries departing from Southampton this year include:

  • Marco Pierre White: Mediterranean, 14 nights on Britannia departing May 29, from £899; Norwegian fjords, seven nights on Iona departing July 16, from £729; and Spain and Portugal, 14 nights on Iona departing November 26, from £619.
  • Olly Smith: Mediterranean, 14 nights on Britannia departing June 26, from £999; Canary Islands, 14 nights on Iona departing October 8, from £1,099.
  • José Pizarro: Canary Islands, 14 nights on Iona departing November 12, from 749.
  • Kjartan Skjelde: Norwegian fjords, seven nights on Iona departing May 7 and May 21, from £599.
