The German cruise ship MS Deutschland will become a floating hotel for the duration of the 2012 Olympics.
Docked in West India Docks in Canary Wharf, the MS Deutschland will become the hub for the German Olympic team and a hospitality centre for VIPs.
The Art Deco Deutschland will be charging up to £4,366 per person for a three-night stay during the Olympics.
MS Deutschland is famous in Germany as the cruise ship featuring in TV show ‘Das Traumschiff’ (The Dream Ship) – a German TV series inspired by US show The Love Boat.
Murray Walker’s favourite
As we revealed recently in Cruise International, the MS Deutschland is a favourite of Formula One motorsport legend Murray Walker. Although – as he points out – “Deutschland is a lovely ship but nearly all the passengers are German and I prefer to be among British people because I can converse with them more easily.”

New Cruise Terminal for the Olympics
London is getting a new cruise terminal for the 2012 Olympics at Enderby Wharf in Greenwich, as part of a major development plan which includes a 251-room hotel and 770 new homes. Read about Enderby Wharf here
