MSC Cruises unveils MSC Splendida’s winter Red Sea itineraries for 2022/2023

MSC Cruises has revealed details of MSC Splendida’s winter Red Sea itineraries for 2022 and 2023, featuring new destinations and 33 shore excursions.

The port of Cairo, Egypt, along with embarkation ports of Sokhna Port and Safaga in Egypt, and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, have been added as extra destinations on MSC Cruises‘ seven-day Red Sea itinerary, with extended stays in port allowing more. time to explore Cairo and visit Great Pyramid of Giza.

MSC Splendida’s seven-night sailings call at Sokhna Port, Safaga for Hurghada and Luxor, Egypt; Aqaba for Petra, Jordan; Jeddah for AlUla, Saudi Arabia and Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.

MSC Cruises also revealed a nine-night holiday experience under its ‘Fly&Cruise’ programme with a two-night pre-stay in Cairo before the seven-night voyage. An extended 13 hour stay in Sokhna Port, Egypt allows for trips to the must-see, once-in-a-lifetime destination, the Great Pyramid of Giza, one of the only remaining ‘Seven Wonders of the World’.

Highlights of MSC Cruises’ new itinerary

A programme of shore excursions is available at each port to enable guests to discover and explore incredible sights and attractions in this fascinating part of the world – highlights include the following:

Egypt Shore Excursions

Explore history at the Great Pyramid of Giza, one of the most recognisable sights in the world, as well as Cairo’s vibrant bazaars and the famous mosques lining the Nile including the Citadel of Saladin, madrasas, hammams and fountains.

Jeddah Shore Excursions

Explore Saudi Arabia’s second largest city, a melange of history and modernity, with a City of Culture and History tour. There’s also the chance to discover the archaeological site of Hegra, the first UNESCO World Heritage site in Saudi Arabia with more than 100 monuments.

Finally, explore the ancient desert city of AlUla and its citadel dating back to the 10th century, among an atmospheric maze of alleyways and squares.

Petra Shore Excursions

Visit the Wonders of Petra, the ancient city and UNESCO World Heritage site in the middle of the Jordanian desert, made of solid rock by Nabatean Arabs more than 2,000 years ago.

Yanbu Shore Excursions

Known as ‘the diving capital of Saudi Arabia’, Yanbu offers adventurous cruisers the chance to snorkel at Iona Coral Reef to spot vibrant marine flora and fauna, as well as the sunken wreck of the British ship Iona.

Swim in the the crystal-clear waters of Yanbu among the reef, or opt for the Baridi Island Getaway for relaxation, fun and sun on a secluded spot of Baridi Island.
