MSC Cruises has named its latest Seaside-generation ship MSC Seaview.
The ship, which will come into service in June 2018, will spend its inaugural season in the Western Mediterranean.
MSC Cruises Chief Executive Officer Gianni Onorato said: “Our company’s heritage lies in the Mediterranean and it was only natural that MSC Seaview would be deployed in its historic and culture-rich waters.
“Guests can now plan their holiday and experience everything that this ever-popular region has to offer from on board one of the industry’s most innovatively-designed ships at sea.”
MSC Cruises’ Seaside-generation ships are being built by Fincantieri, a shipbuilding group based in Italy.
Mr Onorato added the company is proud of its partnership with Fincantieri in realising “our vision for this innovatively designed, new generation of smart ships”.
MSC Seaview is pasrt of a fleet of MSC Cruises’ next-generation smart ships, which makes use of cutting-edge technology to enable guests to customise their on board and on shore experience.
Some high-tech features of MSC Seaview include Near Field Communication (NFC) – which uses a cruise card, bracelet or smartphone for a range of different options including geo-location of children, cabin access and onboard payment – and interactive screens so guests can select excursions as well as book shows and restaurants with greater ease.
MSC Seaview will commence its maiden voyage from Genoa, Italy, on 10 June 2018. For more information, visit msccruises.co.uk.
