Norwegian Cruise Line’s (NCL) first priority has always been the safety, security, and well-being of its guests, team members, and those in the communities the company visits.
The 25th July 2021 was a significant milestone for NCL as Norwegian Jade returned to the high seas and welcomed passengers back on board after an 18-month pause. Since her first sailing, Norwegian Encore, Norwegian Gem, Norwegian Epic, and Norwegian Getaway have also successfully made their long-awaited returns to the seas, totalling five ships now back out at sea. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, NCL continues to provide superior guest service from land to sea, making sure guest safety onboard is a priority. So, what measures have been implemented to ensure you Sail Safe and Feel Free?
Guest Safety Onboard Norwegian Cruise Line
After making the tough decision to pause operations for 499 days, on the 500th day, Norwegian Jade set sail again, soon followed by Norwegian Encore, Norwegian Gem, Norwegian Epic and Norwegian Getaway – finally welcoming new and loyal passengers back on board. However, a significant amount of preparation took place behind the scenes to ensure smooth sailing. NCL’s leading Sail Safe Health and Safety protocols allows you and your loved ones to cruise with the ultimate freedom and confidence.
NCL’s robust Sail Safe Health and Safety protocols have been put in place to ensure every single passenger who steps onboard an NCL ship stays safe and feels free. All guests and crew must be fully vaccinated, at least two weeks before departure, in order to board meaning they can enjoy their favourite cruise as close to normality as possible whilst being assured of their safety on board. NCL has also implemented a pre-embarkation protocol where all guests are required to take a COVID-19 antigen test before boarding. NCL administers these tests and provides them entirely free of charge for all passengers. NCL has also implemented socially responsible check-in to ensure everything runs smoothly, with a newly designed and enhanced staggered embarkation process and a new check-in system to streamline check-in for guests by allowing documents to be signed electronically.
From land to sea, every aspect of the cruise experience has been examined to ensure it is safe from start to finish. Additional sanitisation stations have been installed throughout NCL ships, and guests are encouraged to use them frequently. What’s more, day and night, the crew sanitise every part of the ship, from handrails to elevator buttons and chair arms – to make sure they are sparkling clean. Alongside the medical-grade filtration system installed on ships, guests can navigate the ship with the utmost confidence.
NCL is closely monitoring the constantly evolving COVID-19 pandemic to spot changes in local regulations that may impact the planned course. Should anything change that will impact guests, NCL will move quickly to ensure guests’ safety and peace of mind. NCL collaborates with global government and public health authorities, plus SailSAFE Global Health and Wellness Council, to take all necessary measures to protect guests, crew, and the communities visited.
As each ship returns to sea, every single vessel in the 17-ship-strong fleet will follow stringent health and safety protocols, which are tweaked as needed based on local requirements. No matter which ship guests sail with, they’re guaranteed superior service and ‘Peace of Mind’ thanks to NCL’s flexible booking policy.
