Norwegian Cruise Line has revealed plans for a two-year $400 million investment that promises to enhance the guest experience through a full fleet refurbishment.

It follows news announced yesterday that Norwegian Cruise Line will once again offer regular cruises from England, with Norwegian Jade sailing from Southampton in summer 2017.

The refurbishment programme, called The Norwegian Edge™, will also include a new culinary programme and two private island destinations.

Renovations began in October 2015 with a full refresh of Norwegian Epic, which included the debut of brand new venues like The Cavern Club, a complete makeover in La Cucina and new looks for Cagney’s, Le Bistro, Moderno Churrascaria, The Manhattan Room and the Garden Café.

Norwegian Gem followed in November with a complete makeover of Bliss Lounge; new furniture and new flooring in all speciality restaurants, and upgrades to The Haven Courtyard and Sundeck.

The Norwegian Edge™ will see a total of seven additional ships go into dry dock for both guest-facing and technical enhancements: Pride of America and Norwegian Sun in spring 2016; Norwegian Dawn in summer 2016; Norwegian Spirit, Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Pearl in winter 2017; and Norwegian Jade in spring 2017.

Beginning on 31 January 2016, Norwegian Cruise Line will also be expanding the new speciality dining menus that debuted on Norwegian Escape across the fleet.

These new menus will be offered on Norwegian Breakaway as of 31 January; Norwegian Getaway on 14 February; Norwegian Epic on 6 March; Pride of America after its dry dock on 15 March; Norwegian Gem on 1 April; and Norwegian Dawn after its dry dock in June.

The cruise line also further expanded plans for its privately-owned destinations including the development of the Caribbean’s premier resort-style experience at Harvest Caye, Belize.

Harvest Caye will feature an expansive pool, exclusive beach, shallow lagoon for water sports, private luxury cabanas and more.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s private Bahamian island, Great Stirrup Cay, will also debut several new offerings for guests by spring 2017.
