Oasis of the Seas arrives in Southampton

The world’s largest cruise ship has arrived in Southampton for the first time
The world’s largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean‘s Oasis of the Seas has sailed into Southampton’s port for the first time.
The ship is unable to leave until 23.59 when the tidal conditions are at a premium and there is no other river traffic which will allow the ship to carry out a three point turn.
Longer than the Shard is tall and 40 per cent larger than any other cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas accommodates over 5,400 guests, 2,394 crew and features a number of world firsts.
The ship also features the first ever moving bar at sea which slowly ascends and descends over three decks as well as the longest jogging track at sea where 2.4 laps equates to a mile.
Logistically Southampton port have also had to make changes adding 20 more check in desks, additional security and x-ray equipment and car parking for over 150 coaches.
Oasis of the Seas which sailed in from Rotterdam on the 14 October is expected at its final destination in Fort Lauderdale on the 27 November.
