Air New Zealand has released a preview of its second inflight safety video which features some of Middle Earth’s most famous exports
Air New Zealand have a great track record in making their inflight safety videos something to look forward to. In 2012, their last safety video An Unexpected Briefing had over 12 million views online and now they’re back for a second.
The national airline has once again enlisted the help of The Hobbit characters to make the video which celebrates the third and final film in the trilogy, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.
The airline is a partner of the film franchise and the video features cameo appearance from film director Sir Peter Jackson, Weta Workshop co-founder Sir Richard Taylor and cast members of the films.
The video has yet to be titled but was shot this week in the dramatic Central Otago area of New Zealand.
Air New Zealand Chief Marketing and Customer Officer Mike Tod said: “Air New Zealand has been the official airline of Middle-earth for more than a decade now and we want to mark the final film in The Hobbit Trilogy in a very special way. This video brings together iconic New Zealand film locations with some of the famous faces and Taika Waititi’s signature directing style. We can’t wait to unveil it on board later this year.”
The new safety video will be rolled out across the fleet from late October.
