Princess Cruises has announced it will be adding a new ship to its fleet in 2017.

An agreement has been reached with the Italian shipbuilder, Fincantieri, to build the new ship which will feature the same design as sister ships Royal Princess and Regal Princess. This design has proved immensely popular with signature elements such as the adults-only Sanctuary area and the Movies Under the Stars experience.

The ships also have balconies on 80 percent of the staterooms.

The 3,560-passenger ship is estimated to cost €600 million and will feature brand-new innovations that have not yet been announced.

Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises president said:

“We are incredibly excited to add this fabulous new ship to our already formidable fleet. Royal Princess and Regal Princess have been exceptionally successful for us and have received numerous accolades from guests, travel agents and media, so adding another sister ship will enable us to continue to expand our innovative vacation experiences.

She added that this was the only order anticipated for 2017.
