What’s your favourite place in the world?

Anything close to the water; I love to be right by the coast with views of the sea, preferable on an island like Sicily or Corsica, with a beach nearby. I have a lot of family in Australia and it is of course renowned for its beaches, so that’s one of my favourite destinations, but also the coastline in California is magic.

If you could be anywhere right now where would you be?

I have never been to Mauritius, that would be my first choice, it would be such a relaxing holiday. Then I’d like to go to Vietnam.

What’s your favourite food when travelling?

I love grilled fish, king prawns, and chilli and garlic calamari.

When you were growing up who was your favourite dancer?

I didn’t have a heroine in the ballet world, as I didn’t get to see a lot of ballet when I was young. I really got my inspiration from the films with Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire and watching Gene Kelly in An American in Paris.

Who is the most famous person you have ever met?

I have been starstruck many times. I did a screen test once for a film called Sabrina with Harrison Ford – it was slightly spooky, I didn’t quite feel like I was there. Julia Ormond got the part in the end. This is definitely my biggest claim to fame, he was so cool, laid back and very normal. I’ve also met Sylvester Stallone – he is a real life action man, and quite funny.

Darcey Bussell has performed on P&O Cruises’ Strictly Come Dancing themed cruises with Craig Revel Horwood and is godmother to P&O’s Azura.
