RHS Garden Holidays, the dedicated travel division of the Royal Horticultural Society, has launched its first ever cruise programme: Worldwide Small Ship Discovery Cruises, with the 100th Chelsea Flower Show just around the corner.

There will be four cruises in partnership with small ship discovery experts Swan Hellenic and Voyages of Discovery, each featuring horticultural content throughout the cruise and shore excursions to exceptional gardens, as well as RHS recommended specialist speakers on board.

Voyages of Discovery is offering two cruises on MV Voyager to the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean.

The Colours of the Indian Ocean 20-day Voyages of Discovery cruise from 3-22 March 2014 includes Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and India (from £2,469pp, including flights).

The Magic of the Mediterranean Voyages of Discovery 15-day cruise from 10-24 September 2014 visits gardens in Southern France, Italy and Croatia. The guest speaker on board is veteran horticulturist John Fielding, who studied at Kew, and during a career spanning 45 years has been involved in garden design, planting and plant breeding, (from £1,699pp, including flights or Eurostar from London and return flights).

Swan Hellenic is offering two cruises on MV Minerva to Scandinavia and South America.

A Scandinavian Spring 12-day cruise from 28 April-9 May 2014 includes Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Oslo, Ulvik Hardangerfjord and Bergen. The guest speaker on board is Rosie Atkins, Editor of Gardens Illustrated and former Curator of London’s Chelsea Physic Garden, (from £1,825pp, from Portsmouth).

The Spirit of Brazil 23-day cruise from 21 February-15 March 2014 combines South American cities with a trip along the Amazon. The itinerary includes Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio di Janeiro, Salvador, Recife, Belem, Santarem, Parintins and Manaus, (from £3,350pp including return flights).
