Royal Caribbean International celebrated the Diamond Jubilee in style by hosting a Big Lunch onboard Independence of the Seas for its 3,634 guests on 3 June.
The vessel was sailing towards the sunny shores of Gibraltar yet passengers were transported to Old Blighty for the day, thanks to a feast of British cuisine, a traditional village fair and reams upon reams of bunting.
Independence of the Seas‘s promenade was adorned with red, white and blue, and an abundance of Union Jacks were available for anyone hoping to wave a flag in support of The Queen’s reign.
Royal Caribbean International guests were invited to share in the spirit of the occasion by sampling our nation’s favourite dishes in either the elegant main dining room or the more informal setting of the Windjammer Café. Rumbling tummies were appeased with beer-battered fish and chips, bangers ‘n’ mash and, of course, a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings. Fresh English strawberries and delicious Union Jack cupcakes were also on offer for those with a sweet tooth
From the fantastic weather to the gastronomic treats, guests were left delighted with the unique experience that they encountered onboard Independence of the Seas.
You could say they were treated like royalty…but only The Queen can be the true judge of that!
