Seabourn names new expedition vessel ‘Seabourn Venture’

The first of two new Seabourn expedition vessels, which is due to launch in June 2021, has been named Seabourn Venture.
Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn, said: “The name Seabourn Venture is an exciting step in the process of launching even more immersive voyages designed specifically for the expedition traveller who dares to go beyond the norm in terms of destinations and experiences they seek.”
The name pays tribute to the remote destinations visited as part the cruise lines’ Ventures by Seabourn programme. And Seabourn Venture will continue to transport guests to far-flung locations.
It is currently scheduled to sail in the Arctic in late summer 2021, following its launch, with a full summer season in Antarctica to follow.
A second and yet-to-be-named sister ship is anticipated to launch in May 2020. Built to PC6 Polar Class standards, both ships will be designed for cruising in diverse environments.
There will be a plethora of modern hardware and technology on board too, which will extend their global deployment and capabilities.
The expedition ships also come with two custom-built submarines and are designed to carry kayaks and 24 Zodiacs, which can accommodate all onboard guests at once.
The crew on board, meanwhile, will include well-travelled expedition teams, made up of wilderness experts, scientists, historians and naturalists.
During each sailing, these team members will interact with guests, providing insight to deliver a holistic travel experience, as part of the Seabourn Conservations programme.
“Combined with the team of 26 experts that will bring the expedition experience to life, we are going to draw on our pedigree to deliver breath-taking experiences and I know Seabourn Venture is going to create lifetime memories for the adventurer that wants to go farther, into more remote destinations than they may have ever seen before, in true Seabourn ultra-luxury,” added Meadows.
Other features of the two ships will include 132 luxurious oceanfront veranda suites.
