Thomson Cruises have announced exciting plans to modernise and update their cruise ships. In a multi-million pound investment, Thomson Dream and Thomson Celebration will be given full makeovers, so that both will be joining the well-known Thomson Platinum collection.
Thomson is the third largest cruise line in the UK market, and the company’s managing director, Fraser Ellacott, says that “this is the next step in modernising our cruises in line with Thomson’s strategy of unique holiday experiences, offering getaways that customers cannot buy elsewhere”. Marking a year in his role, Ellacott said they had selected “two of our strongest performing ships” and that the company prides itself on customer satisfaction.
Platinum Cruises will have a lot in common with Thomson’s Platinum hotels. They’ll have a contemporary look and feel, with rich colours, modern furnishings and designer touches. What’s more, as with the hotel range, all the Platinum ships have to score ‘good’ or ‘excellent’ with at least 90 per cent of customers to make the grade.
Thomson Dream’s first sailing as a Platinum ship will be the Transatlantic Sunset cruise on 9 December 2012 from Lisbon to Barbados. Dream will then cruise around the Caribbean for the winter season. Thomson Celebration will be Platinum from 6 May 2013 from her home port in Marmaris, Turkey – offering Eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea itineraries.
