Enter our prize draw to win a Viking river cruise, and you and a guest could be sailing on three of Europe’s most beloved waterways.
Exploring the Moselle, Rhine and Main from the comfort of a Viking Longship is the ultimate way to discover the many wonders of these three iconic rivers, and we’ve got together with award-winning cruise line Viking to offer you and a guest the opportunity to win this incredible prize.
Departing from April to November, the eight-day A Tale of Three Rivers voyage sails from Trier to Bamberg in Germany, taking in fairy-tale castles, picturesque landscapes and ancient riverside villages. For a chance to win a Viking river cruise, all you need to do is enter online (below) by 11.59pm on 13 March 2020.
You’ll board your Viking Longship in Trier, Germany’s oldest city spread across the banks of the Moselle. The next day, you’ll enjoy a tour of its top sights, including the wonderfully preserved Roman Porta Nigra gate, Trier Cathedral – home to the Holy Robe – and the Church of Our Lady.
Day three includes a walking tour through Cochem, a quaint Moselle town with half-timbered houses and medieval gates. Never far away is the looming sight of the 1,000-year-old hilltop Reichsburg Castle and you’ll get to visit here too before departing to Winningen – a village surrounded by near-vertical, terraced vineyards.
The medieval Marksburg Castle is up next on the itinerary. It’s the only fortress situated along the Rhine that has never been destroyed, so prepare to be transported back to the Middle Ages. You’re also sure to be wowed by the spectacular views its elevated position offers over the romantic landscapes of the Rhine Valley.
Heidelberg is renowned as the oldest university town in Germany and, while here, you’ll get to have lunch with some of its students. But this is not before seeking out the evocative red sandstone ruins of Heidelberg Castle and discovering its baroque old town on a guided tour.
The next day will take you along the Main, where you’ll hop off at Karlstadt for a half-day excursion to the enticing wine town of Würzburg. Included in the trip is a visit to the Bishops’ Residenz, a beautiful baroque palace with an impressive selection of beautiful paintings and frescos.
After this you’ll reach your sailing’s final destination, Bamberg. You’ll have a whole day to explore its wonderfully preserved UNESCO-listed old town and sample the locally brewed smoky beer, Rauchbier, for which the city is renowned. Wake up in Bamberg the following day and enjoy breakfast on board before flying back to the UK.
Triumphing in both the Best Cruise Line and Best River Cruise Line categories at the British Cruise Awards 2019, Viking excels with its chic Scandi-style ships, immersive itineraries and cultural offerings, and you can experience all this and more if you win a Viking river cruise.
